KEA Diversity Lesson Plan Contest
Diversity in every aspect of education is integral to reducing the achievement gaps between and among different groups of students. Through diversity lessons taught, educators can move students from intolerance, bigotry, and impatience toward acceptance and
celebration.
Each year, the KEA Diversity Committee sponsors the Diversity Lesson Plan contest. Awards of $200 will begiven to four KEA members who submit the best lesson plans or units that incorporate diversity. Submissions will be judged on multiple factors, including the impact of the lesson on individual student awareness of diversity and the relevance of the lesson to the school community.
The entry form will be available on our website, www.kea.org, beginning November 1. The deadline for submission is 5:00 PM Eastern on January 31, 2023. The Diversity Committee encourages all educators, regardless of race or ethnicity, to submit lesson plans.
ESP Diversity Project
The ESP Diversity Project Contest encourages ESPs to create a bulletin board or other project at their worksite with the theme, “Diversity is …”
All KEA ESP members, regardless of race or ethnicity, are invited to participate. Submissions can be by individuals or by teams. Projects will be judged by the KEA Diversity Committee and winning entries will receive $100. The entry form will be available at www.kea.org on November
1, and the deadline for all submissions is 5:00 PM Eastern on January 31, 2023.
